My son loves it. But for those unfamiliar with Japanese Anime, a quick heads up... the books are read from back-to-front... which takes a bit of getting used to....

Jaime's art has been recognized by several great publications and societies, including Taschen's Illustration Now, American Illustration, Communication Arts, The Society of Illustrators, 3x3, Spectrum, Curvy Australia, Design Taxi, XFuns Taipei, DPI Taiwan, BBC's Culture Shock, Small Magazine, Creative Quarterly, the SI-LA, and the SCBWI. I'd give it a five if it were wholly applicable to an international audience, but that was not the goal of the author. Bellairs and Strickland have done an excellent job creating the mythology of Baron Samedi and the Priests of the Midnight Blood, the evil voudon cult on a French Caribbean island. Great characters, storyline and very well written. Teaching children to make their own music on a keyboard (and to find joy in it) is what "Music in Me" is all about. I'll be sure to edit this review as I begin to make dishes from this book hopefully. If any of this sounds like it shouldn't work dramatically, well, it shouldn't.
