By far the best aspect of the book however are the characterisations of its principals - all somewhat larger than life but not in any overstated or stereotypical way. On the Edge is the powerful story of a “girl next door” who struggled to make it out of childhood alive, only to drown daily in shame and fear . I just wanted this story to be longer. and is there something more to all of this that will shake Ian's world to the core.
